Thomas Joseph Asher was born in Atlanta, Georgia. His mother Helen was an Elsas of the Fulton Bay and Cotton Mills family. Tom attended Cornell University and after graduation became a stockbroker. His career spans decades in New York and Atlanta. He discusses the financial investment world, including some of the antisemitism he encountered. He married Spring Asher and they had three children: Joey, Juliet and Hugh. Tom was involved with a variety of community roles including with the Temple and the William Breman Jewish Heritage Museum. He discusses his ancestors and other prominent families in Atlanta, his childhood, his friends and social activities, his university education, his service in the Army, and the events of the decades of his investment career.
