Fay Saltzman Gold was born in Greenville, South Carolina but grew up in Brooklyn, New York. Her family was in the clothing industry but lost everything in the Depression. From an early age Fay was artistic and was interested in the theater and painting. She attended Adelphi College in New York and then married Donald Gold after which they moved to Atlanta. Fay began to teach painting and then started her own art gallery, Fay Gold Gallery, which prospered and became internationally famous with clients like Sir Elton John. Fay recalls her youth, her interest in the arts, her marriage, her career as a painter and teacher of painting, and the establishment and growth of her own gallery and the art scene in Atlanta.
