David Kaufmann emigrated from Giessen, Germany to the United States in 1859. He moved to Atlanta in 1870 and is listed as one of the founding members of The Temple. He served as Trustee for the congregation for twelve years and as treasurer for two years. Kaufmann was a devoted volunteer at the Hebrew Orphans Home and spent much time advising the young residents. The collection consists of a silver spoon given to David Kaufmann from the Superintendent and the Orphans.
