Herbert Kohn immigrated with his family from Germany to the United States in 1938. His father, Leo, was a recipient of the Iron Cross for his service during World War I. This honor afforded the Kohn's an opportunity to immigrate following Leo's arrest on Kristallnacht and subsequent release a few weeks later. The collection consists of correspondence with relatives unable to immigrate, immigration documents, and a program and swim pass from boyhood activities of Herbert Kohn while in Germany. Arranged in alphabetical order by subject and chronologically within each folder.
