Congregation Or Veshalom was founded in 1914 when two Sephardic congregations, Ahavat Shalom Society (Lovers of Peace), founded in 1910, and Or Hachayim (Light of Life) founded in 1912, merged. The first building was located at the corner of Central and Woodward Avenues. In 1934, Rabbi Joseph Cohen became the spiritual leader of the congregation. He remained in that position for 35 years. The collection consists of minutes, 1947-1948, dues, financial and religious school records. Arranged in alphabetical order by subject and chronologically within each folder.
