Douglas Alexander is the son of Cecil Jr. and Hermoine Alexander making him a fourth generation Jew in Atlanta. His family opened a hardware store in Atlanta in 1865. Douglas attended private schools in Atlanta and finally a boarding school in Massachusetts. His uncle, Henry Aaron Alexander, was Leo M. Frank's lawyer. Douglas Alexander was elected to the City Council of Atlanta and he discusses his political career in depth. In addition to his own life he discusses the legacy of his mother Hermoine Weil Alexander and his father's impact on the Atlanta community.
