Rose Berkowitz was born in Zamosc, Poland in 1903, where she was raised by her Aunt Leah and Uncle Simcha. She came to the New York in 1921, where she worked in a sweatshop. She met her husband, married and moved to Atlanta, Georgia. Her husband was in the grocery business.
