Caption from the Atlanta Constitution, July 28, 1947 (p.8): WAR ON HATE-- Ralph McGill, editor of The Constitution, is awarded a plaque for his "unitiring efforts in combating the forces of bigotry," by the Georgia Department of Jewish War Veterans. Milton Richman (right), National JWV Commander, makes the presentation, assisted by Lloyd F. Oleson (left), National Commander of the Disabled American Veterans, and Paul Ginsberg, Georgia JWV Dept. Commander.

McGill was awarded this plaque in December 1946 in Atlantic City, but was unable to attend the event at which he was honored. He was therefore presented with the award on July 27, 1947 at the Mayfair Club in Atlanta.
