Ben Golden was born and raised in Atlanta, Georgia. He attended the Georgia Institute of Technology and became an architect, developer, and building contractor. He retired in 1975 at the mandatory retired age. He was active in Congregation Beth Jacob, the Zionist Organization of American in Atlanta, the Jewish National Fund, and the Standard and Mayfair Clubs.
