Eugene Asher was born in Atlanta. He has been married twice and had three children with his first wife, Dellajane (Dell) Spector Asher: Laurie Lynn, Susan Kay and David Baron. He was educated at the University of Georgia and received a degree in Journalism. After college, he built a career in sports journalism with the Associated Press and Atlanta Journal and has a life-long love and complete information about sports in Atlanta, especially Jewish sports personalities. Later he changed his career to life insurance sales. Finally, he started the Jewish Georgian, a newspaper focusing on Jews in Georgia. He discusses the supporters, advertisers and contributing writers. He also served in the Marines in the Korean War and is a member of the National Marine Corp Reserves Officers Association in Atlanta.
