David Gershon was born in Atlanta, Georgia. His father came from the Ukraine with his younger brother and became a peddler. David recalls in detail the career and character of Rabbi Harry Epstein. He recollects his family's arrival and settling in the United States, the members of his family, their businesses, Atlanta neighborhoods and the nature of Jewish culture and society in the first half of the twentieth century. He also remembers many of the prominent Jewish personalities and rabbis.
