Cohen Louisa OHC.JPG

Louisa Palatchi Cohen was born in Istanbul, Turkey but moved with her family to Havana, Cuba when she was a child. At age 15, in an arranged marriage, she was married to Rabbi Joseph Cohen. They were married 56 years until his death in 1985. She and Rabbi Cohen emigrated to the United States and settled in Atlanta where Rabbi Cohen accepted the position as rabbi of Congregation Or VeShalom. As the rabbi's wife, Louisa was active in all manner of activities in the Jewish community as well as in the synagogue including the sisterhood. She discusses the history and membership of the Or VeShalom synagogue in Atlanta and of the entire Atlanta Jewish community as well.
