Geraldine Sobol Ashkenazie was born and raised in the Midwest (Minnesota, Iowa, and Nebraska). When she married her first husband, Sonny, they moved to Atlanta where Geraldine accepted a position in the office with Ahavath Achim synagogue. She remained there in various capacities including finally Executive Director for over 40 years. When her first husband, Sonny, died in 1974 Geraldine married Saul Ashkenazie, who has since died as well. Geraldine discusses growing up in the Midwest in a essentially non-Jewish communities and her work over four decades with one of the most important congregations in Atlanta, including the personalities and events.
