Jerome Berman was born in Atlanta and studied medicine at Emory University during World War II. He interned at Beth Israel Hospital in New York City and discusses his experiences there. He served on active duty with the U.S. Army during the Korean War at Fort Jackson, South Carolina. He married Betty Green and they had three daughters. After the war he established a successful private practice from which he eventually retired to do volunteer social work at the national, state, and local levels. Dr. Berman recalls the progress in medicine over his career and his childhood, parents, and activities.
