Cohen Herbert OHC.JPG

Herbert Cohen was born and raised in Monterey, California. He attended Stanford University in California and then became a Naval aviator during World War II. He was stationed in Atlanta for training where he met his future wife, Jean Aronstam, at the Standard Club. He helped to found and run the Southern GF Company, which serviced the construction industry with supplies. Herbert was deeply involved with the Jewish and general Atlanta community through his work at the Temple, on the American Jewish Committee, the Better Business Bureau, Gate City Day Nurseries, the William Breman Jewish Home, and the Georgia Institute of Technology, College of Architecture.
