Virginia Herzog Hein grew up in a small town in Mississippi. Her parents were from Mississippi and Florida. She attended college (Skidmore) and married David Hein. He became a physician and they moved to Atlanta. Virginia Hein later got her doctoral degree in History from Georgia State and taught at Southern Polytechnic in Marietta until retirement. She discusses her childhood, family, and issues relating to antisemitism, assimilation, intermarriage, etc. in the South.
