Browne, Edward B.M.

Rabbi Dr. Edward B.M. "Alphabet" Browne was born in Hungary in 1845 and received his early Hebrew and rabbinical training in Europe; obtained a medical degree from the Medical College of Evansville (1869); national reputation as an orator; pallbearer at the funeral of President Grant; also held a law degree; d. 1929 in Columbus, Ga. He was the rabbi, journalist, and political activist.
