Steven Low (Werner Stephan Loewy) was born in Berlin, Germany in 1938. He left with his parents in 1940 and arrived in Shanghai. He was forced to move into the HongKew ghetto when the Japanese took over the city in 1943. The family emigrated to New York in 1947. The collection consists of a photocopy of immigration documents issued by the Republic of China for Steven Low, 1947, a photocopy of a newspaper article relating to the Jews who fled Nazi persecution through Shanghai, 1947; a photocopy of an article about Steven Low's experiences, 2005; and photographic copies of Steven Low and his family aboard ship on the way to Shanghai, 1940. Arranged in chronological order.
