Morris Barwald was born in Posen, Germany, c.1838. He immigrated to the United States in 1852 settling in Autaugaville, Alabama. He served with the Autaugaville Rifles Company G, Sixth Alabama, John B. Gordon Regiment during the Civil War. In 1873 he settled in Atlanta, Georgia and in 1874 he married Hettie Lazaron of Albany, Georgia. The collection consists of a photocopy of an autobiography of Morris Barwald.
